Heather Locklear to enter long-term treatment facility after arrest and possible overdose

The New York Daily News - 7/1/2018

July 01--Heather Locklear will reportedly head to a long-term treatment facility to tend to her substance abuse and mental health issues, capping off a tumultuous week that included both an arrest and a possible overdose.

The "Melrose Place" star, 56, will enter treatment voluntarily, according to TMZ, after undergoing a series of tests from doctors who determined that while she has problems with both substance abuse and mental health, her health situation may be a bit more urgent.

Locklear's stint is supposed to last 14 days, but there is a chance the star stays longer, Us Weekly reports.

"Heather has a pretty big team giving her support. The family is hopeful this time around that she will get better whereas the many times before they were not," a source told the outlet.

The actress was hospitalized for a possible overdose June 25 -- just one day after she was arrested on two counts of misdemeanor battery on a police officer and emergency personnel after cops were called to her California home to tend to a "disturbance."

"When she got out of jail, she was supposed to voluntarily go in that day to get evaluated. But you can't get evaluated until you do a detox so she was supposed to do that and she didn't," the source told Us.

The chaotic series of events came weeks after Locklear was forced to undergo a psychiatric evaluation after family members told police she was acting erratically and was hunting for a gun to shoot herself.

Locklear was also arrested in February for domestic violence and for attacking a police officer.
